Alabama-based CraneWorks Names Kenny Bishop its New President
Birmingham, Ala.-based CraneWorks has named industry veteran Kenny Bishop its new president. A native of Birmingham, Ala., Bishop attended Shades Valley High School and graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Mining Engineering. After working for Drummond Co. for a few years, he began a long career with Thompson Tractor, the Caterpillar dealer for Alabama and Northwest Florida. Over his 28 ½ years with Thompson, he served as a sales representative, region manager, and vice president of sales. In his role as vice president, he was responsible for the heavy equipment department and served as general manager of the Cat Rental Store.
Most recently, Bishop was president and CEO of Ascendum Machinery, the Volvo heavy equipment dealer in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, east Tennessee and North Dakota.
Bishop will report to owners David and Steve Upton, who serve as CEO and chief financial officer, respectively.
CraneWorks also has branches in Mobile, Ala., and Nashville, Tenn. It has a sister company RentalWorks. CraneWorks offers a fleet of truck, crawler and all terrain cranes topped by a 400 tonne Liebherr LTM 1400-7.1. Its sister company, RentalWorks, offers a range of general rental equipment including powered access, telehandlers, forklifts, spider cranes and earth moving equipment.
