Volvo Construction Equipment plans to launch excavators manufactured in India by November, India’s Business Standard reported this week. Currently, Volvo is manufacturing 4,000 units of road-building machinery per year at its Bangalore facility and plans to double that capacity. It plans to produce two basic models of 20-tonne and 30-tonne excavators, and after reaching a certain level of sales, introduce two additional models.
Volvo CE acquired the manufacturing plant from Ingersoll-Rand in 2008.
