SmartEquip Announces Global AI Collaboration with Google Cloud
SmartEquip Inc. announced a strategic global collaboration with Google Cloud to support the company’s next-generation AI-first platform, currently scheduled for initial release beginning in 2027.
SmartEquip is modernizing its infrastructure on Google Cloud with the goal of creating a scalable, secure foundation for the next generation of equipment lifecycle management. The new architecture is designed to help customers improve asset productivity, increase uptime, and make better operational decisions throughout the equipment lifecycle.
The platform is being developed in close collaboration with strategic partners across multiple equipment-intensive industries throughout North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. Its new role-based architecture is being designed to extend SmartEquip beyond traditional procurement workflows, enabling equipment owners, dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to collaborate more effectively across the equipment lifecycle.
By leveraging Google Cloud, SmartEquip’s platform strategy aims to further advance the company’s long-standing focus on trust through a “clean-room” approach to industrial AI — ensuring that proprietary OEM and operational data remain protected, governed, and fully under customer and manufacturer control, while still enabling powerful AI-driven workflows and insights through secure, permission-based federated access.
In parallel, SmartEquip’s new AI application layer introduces an agentic framework designed to deliver intelligent, workflow-oriented capabilities that help maximize equipment uptime, streamline service operations, accelerate decision-making, and reduce lifecycle support costs.
“AI will fundamentally reshape the industrial economy over the next decade,” said Alex Schuessler, founder and president of SmartEquip. “But the organizations that lead this transformation will be those capable of combining intelligence, interoperability, and trust at a global scale. Using Google Cloud, we are aiming to build a new digital foundation for the equipment industry — one that allows manufacturers, fleet operators, dealers, and suppliers to securely unlock the full power of AI while maintaining complete control of their most valuable operational and technical data.”
“Industrial AI requires more than advanced models, it requires trusted platforms, scalable infrastructure, and secure collaboration across complex ecosystems,” said Praveen Rao, Director of Manufacturing, Google Cloud. “By partnering with Google Cloud, SmartEquip seeks to deliver a highly secure, intelligent platform that significantly boosts asset productivity and lifecycle performance.”
