Hertz Equipment Rental last week acquired Quilovat, one of the leading power-generation rental companies in Spain. Based near Barcelona, Quilovat has two branches and will give a strong boost to HERC’s Energy Division in Spain.

Quilovat was founded in 1994 and specializes in renting to customers on a regional and nationwide basis. The acquired business had estimated revenues of about $22 million in 2007, Hertz officials said. Quilovat provides full-service energy equipment, including air conditioning, rentals for events, fair and power companies’ network maintenance and is focused on the chemical, engineering and electrical industries. Quilovat’s customer base includes numerous companies that operate nationally.

“Quilovat is the market leader in the Cataluna region of Spain,” said Juan Carlos Azcona Martinez, general manager of HERC Spain. “Hertz’ acquisition of Quilovat makes HERC a key player in the fast-growing power generation segment. Quilovat complements HERC’s customer and product diversification strategy and will enhance the power-generation services currently offered by HERC. With some of the best specialists in the industry, Quilovat will be merged into HERC’s Energy Division and will enable HERC to expand throughout Spain.”

Park Ridge, N.J.-based HERC is a major rental player in France and Spain as well as North America where it is No. 4 on the RER 100.
