Dutch Aerial Giant Riwal Acquires Instant Holland Group

Riwal, one of Europe’s largest aerial work platform rental companies and the world’s largest JLG dealer outside of the United States, has acquired full ownership of the Instant Holland Group, effective July 1.

Riwal, one of Europe’s largest aerial work platform rental companies and the world’s largest JLG dealer outside of the United States, has acquired full ownership of the Instant Holland Group, effective July 1.

The Instant Holland Group, based in Velsen-Noord, Holland, includes Instant Holland, specializing in aerial work platform rental; Instant Steigers, specializing in scaffolding rental; Stammis Verhuur, specializing in power generators and construction equipment rental; and Ti-Rent, which offers manned construction equipment rental.

All of Instant’s business are based and operated in The Netherlands, with full branches in Badhoevedorp (Amsterdam), Muiden (Amsterdam), Vlijmen/Den Bosch, and Heerhugowaard, with rental stores in Heerhugowaard, Beverwijk, and Leiden. Instant’s aerial fleet has about 845 aerial work platforms and 29 telehandlers, primarily manufactured by JLG and distributed by Riwal, which distributes for JLG in The Netherlands.

Riwal has more than 60 branches in The Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, France, Spain, Slovenia, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Poland, the Baltic states and Brazil. Riwal is active in other European countries and the Middle East through joint ventures and has a rental fleet of more than 12,000 aerial work platforms and 2,000 forklifts and telehandlers. Riwal’s revenues in 2007 were about €160 million (about U.S. $225 million).

In April the International Powered Access Federation honoured Riwal as “international rental company of the year.”
