Milton Rents, based in Gorham, N.H., has purchased a former car dealership in Chicopee, Mass., to convert it into its first location in western Massachusetts, the New Hampshire Business Review has reported.

Milton Rents Inc., which will offer a variety of Caterpillar equipment, purchased the former 14,000-square-foot Family Ford building for $1.9 million in May.

The company rents smaller construction equipment, including jackhammers, skid steer tractors, scaffolding and generators.

Milton Rents was started four years ago with the purchase of ProQuip’s three outlets in Chichester, Gorham and Plaistow, N.H. Since then, Milton has opened new locations in Uxbridge and Shrewsbury, Mass., and in Portland, Maine.

Bill Staar, Milton’s chief legal officer, told the Springfield Republican,  in Springfield, Mass., that the company plans to open 40 locations in New England and New York over the next 15 years.

Milton Rents lists Caterpillar, Genie, JLG, MBW, Multiquip and Skyjack as primary brands on its website.
