For the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2002, Guelph, Ontario-based Skyjack Inc. reported sales of U.S. $23.9 million or 18.2 percent lower than the $29.2 million reported in the same period a year ago. North American sales decreased 15.7 percent to $21 million, while European sales declined by 33 percent and $2.7 million.
Gross profit for the first quarter increased by 40.1 percent to $5.4 million. The gross profit improvement was primarily attributed to the significant restructuring of operations in fiscal 2002. Overall, the gross profit margin increased to 22.6 percent compared to 13.2 percent in the same period last year.
