Key Takeaways
- Lightweight design: Roof Cart weighs 430 pounds, 45-percent less than comparable systems.
- Two configurations: The unit supports up to three workers in Fall Arrest mode and two in Travel Restraint mode.
- Quick deployment: Tool-free setup, flat-free tires and a compact footprint allow crews to reposition the system as needed.
Guardian, a provider of fall protection and height safety equipment, released its lightweight mobile fall protection unit, the Guardian Roof Cart.
The Roof Cart is designed to provide crews with a portable, easy-to-deploy solution for rooftop applications. Weighing in at 430 pounds, the unit is 45-percent lighter than comparable systems, making it easier for crews to lift, move and reposition as work progresses on the job site, according to a company press release.
The Roof Cart features two modes to accommodate changing jobsite needs. Fall Arrest mode supports up to three workers, while Travel Restraint mode supports up to two workers.
“Mobility and simplicity were key priorities with the Roof Cart” said Chris Hillmann, product manager. “Crews need fall protection that can move with the work without adding unnecessary complexity or setup time. The Roof Cart delivers a straightforward solution that can be positioned and ready for use in minutes.”
No tools or complex installation are required for set up, and flat-free tires allow crews to quickly reposition the system. The unit arrives fully assembled on a standard pallet and includes an integrated locking toolbox, the press release states.
The Roof Cart has a compact 40-x 48-inch footprint and is designed for use across a variety of roofing substrates, including TPO, EPDM, ISO, EPS, metal, wood and built-up roofing.
The Roof Cart was designed and tested in the United States and is compliant with OSHA 1910.140 and 1926.502.
