Aggreko Acquires Indonesian Power Rental Company KBT
Aggreko has announced the acquisition of leading Indonesian power rental company, PT Kerta Bumi Teknindo (KBT).
The acquisition is a key component of Aggreko’s strategy to expand its operations and investment in Indonesia and follows the December 2016 opening of the Aggreko Indonesia PT Jakarta Service Centre.
“Aggreko has operated in Indonesia since 2002 and has since invested considerably in building our in-country capacity, both in terms of generation fleet and our team of highly-skilled, local employees,” said Chris Weston, Chief Executive, Aggreko plc. “Indonesia continues to improve electrification across its vast geography, and Aggreko is committed to supporting these efforts, by supplying world leading technology in mobile, modular power generation, to industrial users and the state utility.”
President Widodo visited London in April 2016 and reinforced the Indonesian Government’s strategy to spread the rapid economic and social development taking place in central areas of the country to wider, outlying areas.
Improving energy supplies was highlighted as a key component of this vision. Within the framework of the visit, Aggreko made a formal commitment to the Indonesian Government to invest more than £25 million into its Indonesian operations to help support this policy.
The opening of its Jakarta Service Centre and the KBT acquisition clearly demonstrates the UK company’s confidence and long-term commitment to Indonesia.
“Benny Goh, Managing Director of Aggreko Asia, said: “KBT has developed a strong customer base across the Indonesian utility sector in the last 24 years, maintains very close relationships with customers and is well known for delivering excellent customer service.
“The company also has a reputation for delivering a high-quality product via an experienced and professional team, which makes KBT a natural fit for us.”
