Sims Crane & Equipment Names Former CFO of the Year as Next Chief Financial Officer
Aggreko PLC, the world’s largest temporary power provider, has filed for an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. The company, headquartered in Glasgow, had net income of $80 million on revenue of $1.92 billion in the first six months of 2026, according to its filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Aggreko has been privately held since 2021 when it was acquired by two private equity firms I Squared Capital and TDR Capital for about £2.3billion, after previously being held on London Stock Exchange. According to media sources and industry sources, Aggreko could be valued at $15 billion to $20 billion in an IPO.
Aggreko is best known for providing large generators for large events. It also provides solar power, temperature control, fuel, logistics and technical support, battery storage units and more.
Supplying power for data centers has been a large contributor to the company’s recent success and is likely to have supplied the impetus for the company to go public in the U.S. rather than in London, along with growing demand for electric vehicles and equipment in North America.
AGKO is good to go
The company intends to list its ordinary shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol AGKO but did not disclose the number of shares to be offered or the proposed price range. Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, J.P. Morgan and BofA Securities are acting as joint lead bookrunning managers for the proposed offering. Barclays and Morgan Stanley are acting as bookrunning managers for the proposed offering. Jefferies, Deutsche Bank Securities, UBS Investment Bank, Baird, Wolfe | Nomura Alliance, and Santander are acting as bookrunners for the proposed offering.
The filling does not obligate Aggreko to go forward with an IPO but gives it the option to do so at a time of its choosing during the next 12 months.
Aggreko has powered multiple live events such as the Tokyo Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, the Glastonbury music festival, Formula One motor racing, and others.
Founded in the Netherlands in 1962 and later headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, Aggreko designs, deploys, and operates modular power and temperature control systems for industrial, utility, commercial, and event clients. Aggreko was founded in the Netherlands in 1962. Its fleet is reported to be 120,000 assets representing 17 gigawatts of capacity, deployed in 80 countries. The 17 GW is estimated to be roughly the generating capacity of 17 large nuclear reactors.
Aggreko North America is No. 6 on the RER 100.
