German engine maker Deutz AG has hired 43 young men and women to begin professional training with the company. Deutz board of management member Dr. Margarete Haase welcomed the trainees from Cologne at a kick-off event at the Deutz Technikum in Cologne. The trainees will work in production mechanics, industrial mechanics, machining mechanics, mechatronics, warehouse management specialists and electronic engineers.
Deutz AG now has 156 trainees in Germany. DEUTZ offers commercial engineering candidates seven different training focuses, and this year is also offering mechatronics training in Cologne for the first time.
“The proportion of mechatronics components and systems in production is steadily rising,” said Martin Strecker, director of human resources at Deutz. “We decided to introduce mechatronics as a training field so we can cover the overlap between electronics and mechanics and train qualified experts in this area.”
“Training has a long tradition at Deutz,” said Haase. “After all, we want to give young people the optimum basis for their careers. This new generation of trainees also represents an important step forward for us as a company, because only if we consciously train our own successors will we know that we have done our best to prepare them for the challenges of the future. I am especially pleased that this year’s group once again includes four women who have decided to pursue a career in commercial engineering.”
