Bomag has hired construction equipment industry veteran Shawn Sweet as vice president of sales and marketing. Sweet will be responsible for the leadership of the Bomag dealer and rental sales teams, marketing, product management and for developing new business opportunities.

Sweet has more than 27 years of experience in the industry. The first 17 years of his career was spent in various capacities at Ingersoll Rend Co. where he was instrumental in the growth of the company’s road machinery business, as well as other tasks. Shortly after the acquisition by Volvo of the IR road machinery business, Sweet spent seven years as business unit president for Doosan Infracore Portable Power and most recently spent three years as vice president and chief operating officer of ASC Construction Equipment, a Volvo dealership.

“Due to Bomag’s tremendous growth these past few years, couple with our future growth prospects, we need to strengthen the support for our customers,” said Rob Mueckler, president of Bomag. “Shawn’s extensive background in managing dealer and rental channels with road machinery equipment, plus his experience operating equipment dealers is an absolutely perfect fit for what Bomag needs to help our customers expand their business with us.”

“I believe in Bomag’s products and in the company’s dedication to its customers within the equipment dealer and rental industry,” said Sweet. “They are committed to product innovation and improving its support services to our road building customers and I look forward to continuing those initiatives.”

Sweet will begin his work with Bomag on Aug. 1 and will operate out of the company’s North American headquarters in Ridgeway, S.C.
