Greenwich, Conn. — United Rentals has named 20-plus-year industry veteran Joe Dixon vice president of sales, effective June 9. Before joining United Rentals, Dixon served as global vice president and general manager for aerial work platform manufacturer JLG Industries.
Before joining JLG in late 2005, Dixon had a long career in the rental industry. He was vice president, pro business and equipment rentals for The Home Depot, with sales and management responsibility for 1,450 North American Home Depot locations. Dixon played a major role in the growth of Home Depot's rental program and in 2005, RER named him one of the 10 industry executives most likely to make an impact on the rental industry.
Before joining Home Depot, Dixon served in several executive management roles with Hertz Equipment Rental Corp., last serving as vice president of operations and field sales, with executive responsibility for the company's equipment rental business.
“We are very pleased to welcome Joe to this important role on our senior management team,” said United Rentals CEO Michael Kneeland. “He is a seasoned industry executive with an extensive understanding of the equipment rental customer and the opportunities that exist within our marketplace. Joe's expertise on a global scale makes him ideally suited to lead our sales organization as we focus on profitable growth and superior customer service.”
In other personnel news, United Rentals last week named Kenneth DeWitt vice president and chief information officer, effective immediately.
“We are extremely pleased to have Ken join us in this key role on our senior management team,” said Kneeland. “He has extensive experience in leading large, strategically important IT operations for retail businesses, and shares our focus on continuing to improve the customer experience.”
