Sunbelt Rentals announced last week that it has acquired the equipment rental assets of Elms Equipment Rental Inc., a three-location equipment rental company based in Southern California with locations in Brawley, Indio and El Centro, Calif.

“We weren’t for sale when this opportunity arose, but after careful consideration it was the best move for the company, its owners, employees and customers,” said Alan Huber, co-owner of Elms. “We are very pleased to have sold our equipment rental division to Sunbelt. It is a good fit for our employees and customers alike.”

Elms is a second-generation equipment rental company that Huber and his brother, Mark, purchased from their parents in 2007.

The Huber family will continue to operate its trucking division, aggregate and materials business, its Rubblemaster line of equipment as well as its contracting arm.  Sunbelt will take over all three Elms Equipment Rental locations.

“I’d like to thank Fred Hageman of Rental Business Advisors for his handling of the entire process and getting our deal done with Sunbelt,” said Huber. “Fred spearheaded our deal in 2007 when we purchased the business from our parents and came through again for us 15 years later.”
