United Rentals has expanded its footprint in Australia with the acquisition of Shore Hire, according to Australia’s Hire & Rental News, published by the Hire & Rental Industry Association. Shore Hire, which specializes in trench shoring, propping and traffic management equipment, has eight branches in four Australian states. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the coming month, according to Hire & Rental News.

Shore Hire is headquartered in Condell Park, New South Wales. It has branches in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and other Australian cities.

United Rentals entered into the Australian “hire” market in 2021 with the acquisition of General Finance, a provider of mobile storage, shipping containers and modular office space, which operates as Pac-Van and Container King in the United States and Canada and as Royal Wolf in Australia and New Zealand.

United Rentals also acquired Orange Hire in Australia earlier this year, a company specializing in earthmoving and traffic safety equipment. Orange Hire also has eight branches, according to its website.
