United Rental has partnered with 3VR CrimeDex to establish a platform for sharing security information industrywide. The platform is open to all companies, large and small, in the equipment rental industry.
The goal of 3VR CrimeDex is to encourage all rental industry corporate security professionals to participate in the information-sharing group called Equipment Rental Industry Group, or ERIG. Group members post important security information to the message board, and it is instantly e-mailed to all other members in the ERIG. Emails will alert group members of fraudulent rentals, thefts, scams and other criminal activity targeting the industry. By rapidly sharing information of this kind, the industry can reduce the likelihood of loss to this type of activity.
