Sunbelt, A-Plant Make 17 Acquisitions in Fiscal 2018

Sunbelt Rentals made 15 acquisitions during its past fiscal year including some companies of considerable size.

Sunbelt Rentals made 15 acquisitions during its past fiscal year including some companies of considerable size. Its sister company A-Plant in the U.K. also made two acquisitions during the fiscal year ended April 30.

Sunbelt’s first acquisition, well-publicized, was May 5, 2017, when it acquired the business and assets of Noble Rents in Los Angeles for $34 million. On May 22, Sunbelt acquired RGR Equipment, an aerial work platform rental business based in St. Louis led by Dan Tumminello and Joe Alonzo.

On June 1, Sunbelt acquired the business and assets of MSP Equipment Rentals, an aerial work platform rental business in Delaware for $23 million. On June 29, Sunbelt acquired certain business assets of Green Acres Equipment Rental and Texas Agri-Capital LLC for $5 million. Green Acres is a general equipment rental business in Texas.

On Aug. 1, Sunbelt Canada acquired all partnership interests of CRS Contractors Rental Supply Limited Partnership in the province of Ontario, Canada, for CDN $220 million, with contingent consideration of up to CDN $20 million payable over the next three years, depending on EBITDA meeting or exceeding certain thresholds.

On Oct. 2, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of the aerial division of Lift Inc., for $9 million. Lift Inc., an aerial rental specialist, is based in Pennsylvania. On Oct. 31, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of The Rental Company of Cenla LLC (RentalCo) for $1 million in cash. RentalCo is a general rental equipment business in Louisiana.

On Nov. 1, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of Maverick Pump Services LLC and Maverick Rehab LLC for $22 million in cash. Maverick is a pump solutions business in Texas and Colorado, thus expanding and growing Sunbelt’s pump specialty rental business.

On Feb. 14, 2018, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of Nickell Equipment Rental & Sales for $15 million in cash. Nickell is a general equipment rental business in Georgia.

On Feb. 23, 2018, Sunbelt US acquired Beaupre Aerial Equipment and Beaupre Equipment services for $57 million in cash. Beaupre is an aerial work platform rental business in Minnesota. On Feb. 23, Sunbelt US acquired certain business and assets of West Georgia Equipment & Party Rental for $3 million in cash, a general equipment rental business in Georgia.

On March 7, 2018, Sunbelt US acquired DJ’s Rentals LLC for $6 million in cash. DJ’s is a general equipment rental business in Tennessee. Also on March 7, Sunbelt US acquired certain business and assets of New England Rent-All Equipment for $4 million in cash, a general rental business in Massachusetts.

On March 15, 2018, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of Building Cooling Systems, a climate control business in New York for $1 million in cash. And on March 22, Sunbelt US acquired the business and assets of Above and Beyond Equipment Rentals, based in Madison, Conn., for $21 million in cash. Above and Beyond is an aerial equipment rental business.

A-Plant made an acquisition in May, 2017, acquiring Plantfinder Ltd. in Scotland, an aerial work platform rental business, as well as the business and assets of Clyde Security Containers Ltd., for £24 million.

A-Plant also acquired Chanton Hire, a survey equipment business, for £1 million, on Sept. 29.

Also, earlier this month, Sunbelt Canada acquired Voisin’s Equipment Rental Ltd., and Universal Rental Services for CDN $76 million. Voisin’s is an aerial equipment rental business in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.
