The Caterpillar 267B, 277B and 287B multi-terrain loaders feature new turbocharged engines with more power, higher breakout forces, redesigned operator station components and design changes that improve reliability and serviceability. The loaders are compact, rubber-tracked machines designed for versatility, floatation, traction, stability and ride quality. The suspended undercarriage transfers machine weight to the ground through wheeled contact points bearing against the track for low ground pressure. The 287B has an operating capacity of 3,600 pounds, the 277B has an operating capacity of 2,950 pounds, and the 267B has an operating capacity of 2,900 pounds at 50 percent tipping load.

The SR-80 features 2.84-psi ground pressure, 20-inch-wide tracks and 15 inches of ground clearance. The track loader is powered by a turbocharged Perkins diesel engine and is rated at 80.5 hp. Bobcat offers its hydraulically driven snowblower attachment for its compact loader. It is designed for clearing snow off driveways, sidewalks or other tight spaces. Its adjustable-height skid shoes can position the cutting edge for gravel or pavement. The unit features a rotating chute and deflector to point the snow in any direction. Case Construction Equipment expands its line of compact track loaders from two machines to four. The new models include the 420CT and 440CT, rated at 56 and 82 net hp, respectively. Compact Power introduces the newly redesigned Boxer 526DX. The track-driven 526DX diesel unit is an update of the Boxer TD-327 model. It is designed for the landscaping, rental and construction markets. Hitachi announces the Zaxis 27u-2 compact excavator, designed to offer competitive fuel economy and long service intervals that deliver low operating costs. Ditch Witch
Ditch Witch introduces the SK650 mini-skid steer that is equipped with a 31-hp Kubota turbo diesel engine and directs 20 net hp to the attachment. Both the fuel and hydraulic tanks are mounted on the outside of the machine's frame, allowing larger tanks. With an 8-gallon fuel capacity, most jobs can be completed without having to refuel. The SK650 is also equipped with a foot pedal auxiliary control that allows the operator to drive the attachment by foot, freeing up his hands to control depth and ground speed.

Gehl adds the 3-ton model 383Z zero-tail-swing compact excavator to its product line. It is designed to operate close to walls and obstructions without risk of contact. The size of the operator's compartment is maximized by mounting the 29-hp Yanmar diesel engine on the side of the machine, and the hydraulic and fuel tanks on the rear of the machine, which provides the operator with more space and legroom. In order to maximize serviceability, the cab tilts to the side for quick access to service points for hydraulics, rotary transmission, control block and the air-conditioning unit.
