Takeuchi

Takeuchi's new 12,450-pound TB153FR compact excavator combines the advantages of a zero-tail-swing excavator with a side-to-side offset boom system to give the operator the ability to slew 360 degrees within inches of the machine width. The unit also features an interference prevention system that controls the boom's range of motion to prevent the bucket from contacting the operator's station.

Compact Power

Compact Power's Boxer Brute TRX mini-skid steer has a compact footprint of 44 inches by 70 inches and has an operating capacity of 900 pounds. The rubber tracks are designed for optimum traction and flotation with minimal compaction. An operating weight of about 2,450 pounds (with operator), distributed over a 331-square-inch ground contact area per track, translates to 3.7 psi of ground pressure for less damage to lawns and other planted areas. The machine is built to handle a full complement of more than 50 universal compact utility attachments, including a 36-inch auger and 48-inch trencher.

Kubota

Kubota introduces three new zero-tail-swing excavators, adding the U15, U25 and U45 models to the U-series lineup. These 1.5-ton, 2.5-ton and 4.5-ton excavators, respectively, are designed for work in tight spaces. The new U-series models are designed to move with no rear overhang beyond the width of the tracks, to provide operator visibility and to include numerous operator control and comfort features. The hydraulic systems on all three models can accommodate a variety of attachments, such as breakers and augers, and the auxiliary hydraulic connections are located within easy reach, incorporating short hoses that are less easily tangled or damaged, according to the manufacturer.

Bobcat

The 335 compact excavator has a maximum dig depth of 11 feet, 8 inches and a maximum reach of 17 feet, 10 inches at ground level. Two-speed travel motors increase the machine's mobility around jobsites by providing a 2-mph low travel speed and a 3.4-mph high travel speed. The rubber tracks distribute the operating weight of the 9,170-pound excavator over a larger area to lower the ground pressure to 4.8 psi and minimize damage to landscapes and other surfaces.

John Deere

The new John Deere 27D compact excavator is designed for increased productivity. Cycle times have been cut by 18 percent, allowing operators to dig more cubic yards per hour. New long arm/counterweight options add approximately 12 inches of dig depth and reach. The operator's cab is 5 inches wider, and both hand and foot control levers have been better positioned for easier operating and more space. An updated undercarriage is designed to shed dirt more easily and reduce the time it takes to clean the machine.

Toro

Toro's new Dingo TX 525 wide-track compact utility loader offers improvements over other Dingo models, including extra torque, longer engine life and increased hydraulic flow for enhanced performance of ground-engaging attachments. The unit weighs 2,127 pounds with a standard bucket and has a rated operating capacity of 553 pounds. Its overall length of 92 inches with bucket and width of 40.5 inches make it compact enough to pass through a 42-inch gate. The 9½-inch-wide tracks on the unit distribute the weight to 3.5 psi for operation in soft ground conditions.

Ditch Witch

Ditch Witch's XT850 is a cross between the company's mini-skid steer and mini-excavator series. The XT850 is powerful and lightweight, with options that include a trailer, stands and enough attachments to handle most underground construction tasks. The machine's 260-degree excavator sweep allows digging capability from one point. The XT850's turf-friendly rubber tracks are controlled by independent hydrostatic ground drives, giving the operator zero-radius turning capability.

IHI

The 55NX is the latest addition to the IHI mini-excavator lineup. The 55NX is an 11,700-pound zero-tail-swing unit with a digging dept of 12 feet, 5 inches and a digging force of 10,850 pounds. Standard equipment includes a Yanmar 37.1-hp engine, four-post canopy, rubber tracks, auxiliary hydraulic piping, pattern change valve and a backfill blade. The machine also features a suspension seat and armrest.

Komatsu

Komatsu's new WA450-6 (pictured) and WA480-6 wheel loaders are equipped with the latest Komtrax technology, which sends the machine operating information to a secure website using wireless technology. Hour meter, location, cautions and maintenance alerts are relayed to the web application for analysis. With two selectable operating modes that are easily adjustable, the engine adapts to different working conditions. The E mode provides maximum fuel efficiency for general loading, and the P mode has a maximum power output for hard digging operation and hill climbing.

Case Construction Equipment

Case has added two new models, the 420CT (pictured) and 440CT, to its compact track loader line. The machines are rated at 56 and 82 net hp, respectively. The dozer-style undercarriage on the compact track loaders have a fit and finish that minimizes exposure to material and moisture. The units incorporate a unitized welded-steel, tub-style chassis designed for heavy workloads. The flotation and low ground pressure reduce surface damage and soil compaction, allowing operators to get back on the jobsite more quickly in the spring or after a rain.

Mustang

Mustang's new zero-tail-swing compact excavator, model 3803ZT, eliminates rear overhang and provides increased maneuverability and visibility for the operator. The unit also takes advantage of a longer undercarriage to enhance stability. The 3803ZT also features a side-mounted engine and rear-mounted hydraulic and fuel tanks that allow for a large operator station. The design also gives easy access to maintenance points. The unit features an automatic swing brake that locks the upper structure in position when the engine is turned off to avoid movement of the structure during transport.

Yanmar

Yanmar's model ViO35 mini-excavator is rated at 7,740 pounds with canopy and has an 11-foot maximum digging depth. Bucket changes facilitated with Yanmar's hydraulic quick-coupler system are designed to use many manufacturers' buckets. Bucket changes can be made quickly from the comfort of the extra-spacious operator's platform. Wall-hugging zero-tail swing, and left and right boom swing, allow the unit to track adjacent to walls for maximum digging and trenching productivity. Large dozing blades coupled with Yanmar's VICTAS offset track design combine to provide side-to-side stability without increasing track width.

Caterpillar

The Caterpillar 216B, 226B, 236B, 246B (pictured) and 248B skid-steer loaders feature increased engine power and breakout force. The 248B uses the new Cat XPS hydraulic system, a load-sensing, pressure-compensating system that can deliver maximum power regardless of engine speed. For customers requiring a smaller machine to operate hydraulically powered work tools, a high-flow option is available on the 226B. All models feature an improved hydraulic system that reduces the number of potential leak points and improves reliability and cleanliness.
