United Rentals to Build Major Corporate Campus in Charlotte
United Rentals announced a major expansion of its operations in Charlotte, N.C., with plans to bring 150 new jobs to the city to support continued business growth for the long term. The company has completed a long-term lease for a new corporate campus in University Research Park northeast of downtown, with plans to occupy the 100,000-square-foot building mid-2020.
The United Rentals expansion will create new Charlotte-based jobs, with roles in the company’s Accounting Services, Credit & Billing, Customer Care, Inside Sales, Payroll, and Tax teams. United Rentals begins recruitment for the new roles in Charlotte starting this week. The company will also build a command center for the United Rentals Emergency Response Team in the new building.
“Charlotte has a terrific talent base that can help us support our growing business and serve our customers,” said Craig Pintoff, EVP, chief administrative and legal officer, United Rentals. “The new Charlotte campus demonstrates our commitment to providing a world-class, collaborative work environment for our employees and reflects the optimism we all share for a bright future for United Rentals.”
United Rentals will hold a hiring event at the new facility on Wednesday, October 23, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at 10330 David Taylor Dr. The event will feature interviews on the spot for a variety of roles. As testimony to the rich talent base in Charlotte and interest in United Rentals, the company said more than 500 RSVPs had been received for the hiring event. United Rentals new corporate campus will be located at 10330 David Taylor Drive, a short distance from its current facility in the Harris Ridge office park. The campus features a three-story office building with slightly less than 100,000 square feet of flexible office space and pad space for an additional building for future growth. The facility offers United Rentals employees modern work and collaboration areas, training rooms, spacious break rooms, outside seating, nearby greenway trails, and easy access to public transportation and major highways, all which will upgrade the employee experience over the existing facility.
United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental company, already operates a campus in Charlotte employing more than 300 people. That center houses functions including Credit & Billing, Customer Care, Sales Development, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Inside Sales, Advanced Solutions, Purchasing, Real Estate, Strategic Sourcing/Supply Chain, and United Academy training. The company said all of its Charlotte-based employees will consolidate into the new corporate campus in 2020.
