INDIANAPOLIS — Red Top Rentals, recently opened a branch in Cincinnati, the company's third location, vice president John Dowden II told RER. The company, which also has a branch in Louisville, Ky., specializes in large earthmoving equipment, with backhoes being the smallest items in its fleet.
Red Top Rentals, founded by John Dowden I in 1990, paints the tops of the cabs on all of its equipment red. Starting with six units, it now has more than 300 machines, primarily articulated trucks, dozers, scrapers, excavators, graders, rubber-tire loaders, crawler loaders, hydraulic hammers, skid-steer loaders, sheepsfoot and smooth drum rollers and more.
Dowden said most of the company's fleet consists of Caterpillar equipment, but Red Top also has Terex, Hitachi, Volvo, Deere and Ingersoll Rand, and is a Liebherr dealer in Indiana.
Red Top has begun operating out of a trailer in Cincinnati and will begin constructing its facility shortly. Sales manager Ron Brunot and outside salesman Billy Rose are operating the branch. Red Top ships its equipment long distance to service its customers, Dowden said, adding that at one time Red Top had equipment in 34 states.
