To improve wire-welding performance in portable applications, Miller Electric has introduced its new SuitCase X-Treme 12VS voltage-sensing wire feeder. Compared to the previous model, the new SuitCase X-Treme offers improved short circuit MIG welding performance, an improved contactor for higher duty cycle, and a double-filtered gas valve that helps keep dirt from affecting gas flow.

The SuitCase X-Treme 12VS weighs 35 pounds and holds wire spools up to 12 inches. The portable feeder features SunVision digital meters that display voltage and wire feed speed or amperage and are visible even in direct sunlight. Its two fully driven drive rolls provide positive feeding performance with solid wires from .023 to 5/64 inch and cored wires from .030 to 5/64 inch. With a polypropylene case, the X-Treme is designed for use in construction, shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing and rental applications.

“One side of the feeder features molded-in slide rails, so operators can literally drag the feeder like it's on a leash and they won't damage the case,” says Mike Vandenberg, Miller product manager. “We put the SuitCase X-Treme feeder through reliability tests so extreme that competitive feeders can't survive them, but ours continued to weld flawlessly.”
