Subaru introduces the RGD3300H and RGD5000H (pictured) diesel generators, which are powered by Hatz 4-cycle, single-cylinder diesel engines and provide convenient operation for diesel-ready jobsites, such as in the oil, mining and marine industries.
The RGD3300H uses a 6.8-hp engine with a rated output of 3,000 watts, while the larger RGD50000H uses a 9.9-hp engine for a rated output of 5,000 watts. Both models have electric starters with recoil backup, while GFCI receptacles and fuseless circuit breakers protect the current level.
“Subaru's diesel generators provide contractors with the alternative of renting diesel-powered units when diesel fuel is more prevalent than gasoline on the jobsite,” says Pam Meyer, equipment sales manager for Subaru Industrial Engines. “The 3,000- and 5,000-watt portable diesel generators also fill a niche to provide diesel power for smaller projects, eliminating the hassle of transporting a large, tow-style generator to the site.”
Both models include a full-power switch, voltmeter and 12-volt DC charging, as well as a spark arrestor that reduces both noise and ignition risk. The single-phase capacitor-type generators incorporate an extensive control panel with many standard features. Large 4.4-gallon fuel tanks allow for hours of continuous operation, while a low-oil shutdown system is designed to prevent damage to the engine should lubrication levels drop. The hour meter will allow rental centers to schedule maintenance at recommended intervals to help ensure the generator continues to function properly.
