Stihl Debuts First Rock Boss Concrete Cutter at World of Concrete
Stihl introduced the first professional concrete cutter of its kind, the company said, at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas this month. The GS 461 Stihl Rock Boss is a lightweight, handheld tool for deep cutting tasks. The first Stihl concrete cutter of its kind, the Stihl Rock Boss is designed for plunge cuts, shaping square corners and cutting concrete pipes in trenches, cinder blocks, masonry bricks, asphalt and soft stone. It offers a 13,500 max rpm and cuts up to a depth of 15.7 inches.
"The GS 461 Stihl Rock Boss offers the industry a gasoline-powered concrete cutter that provides exceptional cutting performance in a compact package that is easy to maneuver and transport,” said Dan Pherson, Stihl product manager. “The engine delivers up to 20-percent more fuel efficiency than a standard 2-stroke engine, saving refueling time and money during construction and renovation projects.”
The two chain-tensioner mounting holes allow the user to effectively increase the length of the guide bar to compensate for chain stretch while the side-access chain tensioner allows for easy tightening, loosening or changing of the 36 gbm Stihl diamond abrasive saw chain.
The company also debuted its TS 500i Cutquik cut-off machine, which features an electronically controlled fuel-injection system. The TS 500i increases power by 17 percent and cutting speed by 15 percent while only increasing weight by six percent, as compared to the Stihl TS 420.
"It ensures really easy starts and optimum engine power at all times with excellent running behavior and throttle response as well as greater fuel economy and lower emissions,” said Bertram Kandziora, Stihl executive board chairman.
The TS 500i Cutquick comes complete with a low-emission engine that provides optimal torque throughout the rpm range and eliminates the need for a choke, simplifying the starting procedure. The X2 air filtration system is designed to be virtually maintenance free and maintains a 99.96-percent cleaning efficiency. The Stihl computer-mapped fuel injection system continuously and precisely determines fuel mixture, injected quantity, injection and ignition timing.
Stihl Inc. manufactures gasoline-powered handheld outdoor power equipment. The company is headquartered in Virginia Beach, Va.
