Stihl introduced its latest innovative engine technology at ConExpo on the new Stihl MS 261 and MS 261 C-Q chain saws, which reduce emissions up to 50 percent and provide up to a 20-percent increase in fuel efficiency as compared to previous models.

Made for a variety of professional users such as landscapers, arborists, loggers, farmers and municipalities, these chain saws come equipped with a decompression valve for easier starts and an advanced anti-vibration system that helps reduce user fatigue. The compact, space-saving design of the split-barrel carburetor and the stainless-steel muffler reduce overall weight.

Both the Stihl MS 261 and the MS 261 C-Q are engineered with operator-friendly components, including a side-access chain tensioner, tool-less fuel and oil caps with retainers, and a translucent fuel tank. Captive bar nuts are retained in the sprocket cover to prevent their loss and are designed for self-guided mounting. A pre-separation air filtration provides greater air cleaning efficiency and longer run times between filter maintenance.

The MS 261 C-Q also includes Stihl Quickstop Plus, an additional chain braking system designed to stop the chain in less than one second of releasing the rear handle.

The company also launched a new high-performance, ethanol-free fuel mix for its customers. Stihl MotoMix is designed as a convenient, premixed 50:1 fuel mixture, created with premium-quality fuel with a minimum 92 octane and the protection of STIHL HP Ultra Oil to ensure reliability and performance.

“Stihl MotoMix will eliminate the time and hassle of measuring and mixing your own fuel and oil,” said Kent Hall, senior product manager for Stihl. “Delivering excellent engine performance and superior lubrication, Stihl MotoMix is a natural fit as the official fuel of the Stihl Timbersports Series.”

Available only through authorized Stihl dealers, Stihl MotoMix does not contain ethanol. The fuel formulation also results in a longer fuel storage period of up to two years, thus the fuel mix will stay fresh longer in the equipment.

Stihl MotoMix is a non-aromatic fuel mixed with a fully synthetic and highly biodegradable two-cycle engine oil, so it is easier on the environment.
