Subaru introduces the Hammer-Guard feature to its line of air-cooled 4-cycle overhead cam EX Series engines. The Hammer-Guard is engineered to protect the engine recoil from damage associated with equipment abuse during transport or on the jobsite. It also acts as a muffler, reducing noise levels by 2 dBA.

The U-Sand Mini from Cherryhill Manufacturing is a hand-held sander that uses the same patented multi-head, random orbit technology used in the company's floor sanders. The Mini features three 5-inch pads and weighs 19.5 pounds. The unit is designed to sand stair treads, tabletops, countertops, doors, edging and other hard-to-reach areas.

Chicago Pneumatic Construction Tools introduces a line of power packs that are built with foldable handles and large wheels for simple maneuverability, allowing hydraulic tools to be used in confined spaces and remote areas. The largest pack measures 27.6 inches wide, 28.3 inches long and 29.3 inches tall. With service weights ranging from 143 to 256 pounds, the packs are designed to be easily picked up and placed in a van or truck.

Husqvarna Construction Products introduces a high-speed blade for its K 3000 electric power cutter series. The STE3 blade is designed to decrease air turbulence and high-pitch whistling created by blades spinning at high rpms. The noise-reducing geometry is combined with a vibration-dampening system embedded in the steel core, resulting in smooth cutting with low free spinning noise. Whether used dry or with the K 3000 Wet, the STE3 cuts various construction materials such as brick and concrete.

The LH 40 E hand-held breaker from Atlas Copco Construction Tools can be adjusted to operate with an oil flow of either 7.9 or 10.6 gpm. The unit delivers 100 foot-pounds of blow energy at an average impact range of 1,275 bpm, but is designed to reduce vibration up to 71 percent. The LH 40 E model comes standard with a 1.3-foot hydraulic twin hose, complete with screw couplings for connection to the breaker and flat-face quick-release couplings for connection to the power pack hose or to the twin extension hose.

Hitachi Power Tools introduces the WH18DSAL impact driver to its 18-volt lithium ion compact pro cordless line. It measures less than 7 inches in length and weighs 3.3 pounds. The impact driver can drill into wood, metal and concrete, and delivers a no-load speed up to 2,600 rpm and an impact rate up to 3,200 bpm.

The Custom TechnaCurv harness from MSA has a patented curvilinear comfort system that is designed to combine neck and torso webbing with an adjustable Y Back D-Locator pad. This moves the shoulder webbing away from the neck, preventing chaffing and providing improved comfort. The Morbark Beever M6R brush chipper, previously the Chipper 6, is now equipped with two-knife machine rotor, larger tires, 180-degree silo swivel discharge and direct drive with belt power transfer. The Beever M6R is a 6-inch-capacity rotary chipper and features reduced space between the rotor and feed wheel, minimizing the space for material to lodge or turn sideways. It is powered by a Kohler 27-hp gas engine with belt power transfer.
