Work zones often change as construction moves forward. A barrier setup that works one day may need to be adjusted the next, making flexibility an important part of temporary traffic control.

TrafFix Devices says its Water Wall system is designed to provide flexible separation in work zones.

The Water Wall is a MASH-eligible TL-2 longitudinal channelizing device designed to separate traffic and work areas while maintaining visibility for drivers. At 32 inches tall and 72 inches long, its low-profile design is intended to provide clear sightlines, including at intersections.

Built to Handle Tough Conditions

The system is made from low-density polyethylene and is designed to withstand demanding work zone conditions without easily cracking or breaking.

Its double-wall knuckle design reinforces the connection points between sections. The hinge can pivot up to 30 degrees, allowing crews to adjust the alignment of the barrier to fit different layouts.

TrafFix Devices has also introduced a corner piece that allows the Water Wall to make 90-degree turns,giving crews another option when a work zone requires the barrier to change direction.

Designed for Easier Setup

Moving and installing temporary barriers can be a challenge, particularly when crews need to reposition them as construction progresses.

The Water Wall includes an 8-inch fill hole with a twist-lock plastic cap to make filling faster. A tamper-resistant offset drain plug can be secured or released with two and a half turns.

Sections connect using a steel connection and keeper pin system, while molded-in forklift and pallet jack slots are designed to make the units easier to move and position.

The system can also be paired with a chain-link fence attachment for additional security around the work area.

Tested for Work Zone Applications

According to TrafFix Devices, the Water Wall has been NCHRP-350 tested and passed to MASH TL-1 Barrier Wall, TL-2 longitudinal channelizing device and TL-3 barricade standards.

The system can also connect directly to the company's SLED end treatment, eliminating the need for additional shielding or flaring during deployment.

For work zones where traffic patterns and construction limits can change frequently, the company says the system is designed to give crews a separation solution that can be adjusted without sacrificing durability or ease of use.
