Bill Lasky, chairman of the board, president and CEO of JLG Industries was recently awarded a Powered Access Licensed-Registration card and operator training certificate following the successful completion of a comprehensive aerial work platform operator training course held at JLG’s McConnellsburg, Pa., training center.

The training program and PAL card were developed by the International Powered Access Federation and its North American subsidiary, Aerial Work Platform Training. The IPAF training program is certified as conforming to the ISO 18878 standard for platform operator training. JLG is an AWPT-approved training center in North America and operates a number of IPAF training centers worldwide. Lasky’s training was conducted by Thomas Hickey, an AWPT-certified senior instructor and JLG’s training programs manager, safety. “AWPT training teaches operators how to safely operate their equipment while becoming more productive,” said Lasky. “These programs are an important part in the proper use of our equipment.

“I took the AWPT training course to develop a deeper understanding of the equipment at the end-user level so I can continue to lead the company in providing new solutions to access challenges. It keeps me in touch with the industry and how our products are being used.”

Each year, more than 50,000 people are trained and receive a PAL card from one of more than 230 IPAF/AWPT training centers worldwide. The PAL card is recognized as proof of training in many countries and in the United States by organizations such as the Scaffold Industry Association.
