Gehl Co., a manufacturer of compact equipment used in construction and agriculture applications, recently awarded the free use of a Gehl model 5640E skid loader to the Huber family of Ellsworth, Wis., at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days, held in July.

John Huber and his son, Hank, own and operate Huber Farms, a dairy farm that has been in the family for six generations. The Hubers milk about 62 cows and farm approximately 400 acres. Hank is a senior at University-Wisconsin River Falls in the Agricultural Business program. John and Hank employ students from the college regularly. John’s eldest son, Jake, is an F18 carrier plane pilot with the United States Navy and was recently promoted to Lt. Commander.

The Hubers were volunteering at the Wisconsin Farm Technology Days show in July and stopped by the Gehl booth. On a whim they entered the drawing to win the free use of a Gehl 5640E skid loader. “We thought we’d maybe win a hat or something,” said John. “We never thought we’d actually win the skid loader.”

The Hubers will use the skid-steer loader to feed cattle and perform a variety of other chores including transplanting trees.

Gehl Co. is headquartered in West Bend, Wis.
