For the second time this year, Snorkel International will halt production at its Elwood, Kan., facility, closing the plant for two weeks around the Christmas holiday. As previously reported, the plant closed for a week in October.
According to the St. Joseph News-Press, the company’s 300 employees received a letter last week stating that the company may be headed for additional layoffs by Jan. 6. The company cut 100 workers in September.
The Tanfield Group, based in Tyne & Wear, England, acquired Snorkel for about $125 million in October 2007.
