World of Concrete 2010 Reports 88-Percent Landfill Diversion Rate
As a result of the recycling program implemented at this year’s World of Concrete show, Hanley Wood and Freeman last week reported that 88 percent of the post-show waste collected at World of Concrete was diverted from local landfills and recycled. Materials recycled included carpet, concrete, ferrous metal, carpet pad, glass, paper, wire/cable, plastics and wood.
“World of Concrete is pleased to be taking an active role in this effort to recycle post-show waste and concrete,” said Tom Cindric, director, World of Concrete. “This is the third year we have partnered in cooperation with Freeman, who has been a valuable resource in orchestrating this effort.”
In addition to this post-show effort, WOC once again featured Greensite,in a new location in the Central Hall, near Registration. In this high-traffic area, exhibitors showcased green build technologies and products along with interactive displays, daily live educational sessions and video presentations highlighting information on this important topic for the commercial and residential construction industries.
