Aggreko Provides 40-MW Power Package in Guam

Aggreko, the leading provider of modular, mobile power and adjacent product solutions, has been commissioned to supply Guam Power Authority with a 40-MW power package in Guam for the next 12 months, as a result of a competitive tender process.

An explosion and subsequent fire broke out Aug. 31 at the Cabras Power Plant in Piti, Guam, resulting in the shutdown of two of four power generating plants onsite. Guam Power Authority subsequently put to tender a contract to supply a 40 MW power package to supplement base load power to the island’s grid network.

The fuel efficiency of Aggreko’s Tier 2 engine was a critical success factor of the winning bid, Aggreko said. Also the flexible and modular nature of Aggreko’s 1 MW generator units provides the option to scale up and scale down as required.

“The package we provided highlights once again Aggreko’s ability to rapidly mobilize fast-track, turnkey power solutions to support our customers’ needs, delivering significant fuel savings, no matter where in the world they operate,” said Venkie Shantaram, regional director, Aggreko North Asia.

Aggreko’s package will include engineering services, transport, fuel tanks, installation, commissioning, EPA-certified engines with onsite operators and decommissioning.
