Chinese construction equipment manufacturer LiuGong last week inaugurated its new global Research and Development Center in Liuzhou, China, attended by a large delegation of company executives and government officials. The company held a “Global Construction Machinery Technology Forum” with 300 guests including government officials, industry and association leaders, experts and scholers, component manufacturers, dealers and customers.

“R&D is the nucleus of the future and the ability to be innovative is an uppermost priority for the future,” said Zeng Guang’an, chairman of LiuGong Group. “At LiuGong, R&D has always been a major focus. The new center is a significant commitment to future technology, with many more scientific and technological advances being made.”

The facility spans 110,000 square meters and includes an office complex, a global test center, a prototype center, seven laboratories, and a large outdoor experimental field. The facility seats 1,200 engineers. The new R&D center will initially focus on major research, development and test for Liugong’s lines of wheel loaders, excavators and graders.

The laboratories will test and optimize all aspects of machine performance including structural design, materials science, electronic and hydraulic efficiency, cooling, vibration and noise. The center has virtual reality and industrial design studios as the focal point of technical training within LiuGong.
