Workers at JCB’s headquarters in Rocester, U.K., have been told to stay home for an additional week after its annual autumn shutdown week, according to the Ashbourne News Telegraph. Because of slow orders, 1,600 workers will take an additional week off.
The extended shutdown affects production workers at the headquarters as well as JCB Earthmovers and JCB Landpower in Cheadle and JCB Cab Systems in Rugeley. Staff at JCB Heavy Productions in Uttoxeter and JCB Compact Products in Cheadle were not affected.
JCB recorded record profits of £187 million in 2007, but business has slumped considerably since.
