Kobelco to Open Excavator Facility in India

Kobelco Construction Equipment India, a subsidiary of Kobelco Group Japan, last week said it will build an excavator manufacturing facility on a 17-acre site in Sri City at Tada in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Construction will take place in two phases, with the first — a plant with a capacity to produce 1,200 units a year — to go on stream by 2011. The second phase, an equal investment that will double capacity, is expected to be completed by 2012.
