Finning Canada and the Det’On Cho Group of Companies have announced a collaboration to expand heavy equipment rentals across Canada’s Northwest Territories in response to increased demand for major infrastructure, construction activity and remediation work. The equipment is available to rent at Finning’s location in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Established in 1988, Det’on Cho Group of Companies is wholly owned by the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
“This collaboration is an important opportunity to strengthen access to heavy equipment in the North while creating opportunities for Indigenous participation and economic development,” said Mark Lewis, president and CEO of Det’on Cho Group of Companies. “Det’on Cho has a long history of supporting major construction projects and building partnerships that create lasting benefits for our communities. Working with Finning Canada allows us to bring together their expertise and equipment capabilities with our local knowledge, relationships and presence in the North.”
"Finning has served customers in the Northwest Territories for nearly 50 years, and we know how much the right equipment, available close to the job, matters in the North," said Lyall Megaw, vice president of rentals at Finning Canada. "Working with Det'on Cho lets us pair our rental and service capabilities with their local knowledge and relationships. We look forward to growing it together.”
The longer-term vision includes a permanent equipment rental and service hub, with potential opportunities to expand the range of equipment and explore training and capacity-building opportunities for Northerners.
