Irish Leaders and Founders to Spearhead CES Power’s Operations in Ireland
CES Power, a leading provider of temporary power solutions across Europe, the UK and the United States, has announced its new Irish leadership team that will oversee operations across Ireland, as it targets continued growth in the film and television, events, industrial and construction sectors.
Following the acquisitions of GH Energy Rental Ltd, Purecore and Event Power earlier this year, the founders of the three businesses have been appointed to lead CES Power's Irish division. John Galgey has been appointed managing director; Mark Barrett operations director and Philip Lawler events director. Together, they will lead operations across Ireland, supporting the company's global growth strategy.
After founding GH Energy Rental Ltd in 2007, John Galgey has grown the business into one of Ireland’s leading temporary power providers, delivering projects across both the events and industrial sectors, including the Dublin Port Tunnel. Galgey will lead the integration of the Irish businesses into CES Power and will help shape the company's growth strategy across Ireland, including in key markets, such as film and television.
Mark Barrett established power rental business Purecore in 2007, and has delivered projects for a broad range of customers across television, industrial and event sectors, including the Pope’s visit to Ireland in 2018, which saw more than 130,000 people attend an open-air mass at Dublin’s Phoenix Park. Barrett will oversee operational delivery of the business across Ireland, helping customers improve project efficiencies and performance through use of CES’ new innovations. For example, its newly launched advanced telemetry system, which enables real-time equipment monitoring to optimize fuel usage and reduce emissions by almost half (45 percent) is an example of CES’ expanding capabilities.
Philip Lawler, who will oversee the delivery of major live events, began his career as an electrician before establishing Event Power in 2021. Throughout his 30-year career, he built experience delivering temporary power for major international events, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. In addition to events, Lawler will work closely with CES Power’s wider international team to support the continued expansion of its film and television offering in Ireland.
Temporary power is central

“Now, in our new roles, we’ll be combining our local expertise with CES’s experience in delivering in complex, high-pressure environments around the world, giving us the platform to support ambitious projects here in Ireland. Customers will continue to work with the people who understand their sites, sectors and challenges, while also benefiting from the greater resources and innovation CES has to offer. Our priority now is to make sure customers, both current and potential, feel the value of that from day one.”

The acquisition of the three new businesses significantly enhanced CES Power’s existing fleet of generators, lighting towers, transformers, distribution boards, cabling infrastructure and specialist power management systems, making it the largest power fleet in the UK and Ireland, CE Power said. This expanded presence in the UK and Ireland has also increased the business’ ability to deliver to operate across multiple territories.
