Sunbelt Rentals Awarded Supported Scaffold Project of the Year for Miami Freedom Tower Restoration
Sunbelt Rentals has been awarded the 2024 Supported Scaffold Project of the Year Award by the Scaffold and Access Industry Association (SAIA).
The award was granted for Sunbelt Rentals Freedom Tower Access Project, where the company was tasked with providing full access for the exterior restoration of the nearly 100-year-old Freedom Tower in Miami. This historic landmark required a complex and multifaceted scaffold design to meet stringent safety and access requirements for restoration. The project presented numerous challenges, including a narrowing building structure, architectural constraints, space limitations and severe weather. Despite these challenges, the project was completed on time.
“We are incredibly honored to receive this recognition from SAIA,” said Jacco Kappers, senior vice president of Scaffold Services at Sunbelt Rentals. “The Freedom Tower project exemplifies the expertise, precision and dedication Sunbelt Rentals brings to every project it supports. We are proud of the safe and efficient solution we provided that contributed to the restoration of this historic landmark."
Sunbelt Rentals devised a synchronized solution that involved both supported and suspended scaffolding. A 100-foot supported scaffold was installed from the 14th floor to the top dome, spanning 40 feet on each side.
SAIA is the largest association in the scaffold and access industry and receives hundreds of submissions annually for its awards. Sunbelt Rentals’ recognition represents a significant industry achievement, affirming Sunbelt Rentals’ reputation for providing safe, innovative and reliable access solutions in the scaffolding industry.
