Fast-growing rental and technology company EquipmentShare is observing National Safety Month with a new initiative called 7 Seconds of Safety (7SOS) to educate all employees about staying safe on the job. 7SOS was created to remind employees that taking as little as seven seconds to ensure your safety and the safety of those around you will help protect the industry’s most important assets – its people.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, 1,061 construction fatalities were reported in 2019, accounting for one in five worker deaths.
“Making sure people get home safe and asking employees to stop what they are doing — no matter what it is — if they see something unsafe says a lot about our leadership,” Byron Adkins, safety and DOT compliance director for EquipmentShare, said. “I’m beyond proud to work for a company and a leader who puts people first over anything else.”
Each week in June, a video highlighting one major safety topic will be shared with all 3,500 EquipmentShare employees across the country. Topics will include:
- Slips, trips and falls
- Distracted driving
- Situational awareness and safety in the jobsite
- Seatbelt safety
“To be the best rental business in the industry, we have to be the safest in the industry,” EquipmentShare CEO Jabbok Schlacks said. “Our most important asset is our people, and we will do everything we can to empower them to stay safe at work so they can go home to their families each day.”
