United Rentals today announced that it has been selected as the winner of the 2018 Acquia Engage Award for Leader of the Pack: Commerce. The award recognizes the United Rentals UR One platform for its unified digital experience that enables companies to manage their equipment needs across a jobsite. United Rentals shares the award with its digital marketing agency partner VML.

The UR One platform at unitedrentals.com is a cutting-edge digital experience for renters of construction, industrial and specialty equipment. Companies can easily evaluate, price and procure rental equipment and services, manage preventive maintenance and optimize utilization to control costs. The site is on track to realize year-over-year rental revenue growth of more than 40 percent in 2018, underpinned by a significant increase in new customers.

The site offers customers a one-stop, consistent experience with personalized content, including customized calls-to-action that guide renters through the rental process.

“The biggest challenge our customers face is managing the complexities of the modern jobsite,” said Chris Hummel, chief marketing officer for United Rentals. “Our UR One platform greatly simplifies the logistics of solving equipment needs, making it easier to achieve tangible productivity gains, reduce worker downtime and benefit margins. We’re helping our customers keep their profitability on track throughout the entire project lifecycle.”

The UR One digital platform is designed to transform the customer experience, moving from an online catalog to an interactive digital marketplace. It features sophisticated search, filter, group and sort mechanisms to help customers quickly find the right equipment for their jobs. Dashboards and reports generate customized business intelligence, while the technology is mobile-friendly, so customers at remote jobsites can conduct business as easily as from an office. The platform provides flexible checkout that supports quick orders, complex orders and multiple reservations.

The UR One platform provides customers with fleet and project management tools that enable automated workflows, personalized workspaces and on-demand services. The platform includes Total Control, a cloud-based solution to help customers efficiently manage and extract the most value from equipment rentals, and access to an online university for extensive operator certification and OSHA-required training.

The Acquia Engage Awards recognize the world-class digital experiences that organizations are building with the Acquia Platform. United Rentals is one of 15 winners selected from more than 100 entries submitted by Acquia customers and partners. An independent panel of experts determined the winners based on criteria for advanced functionality, integration, overall performance, key performance indicators such as ROI, user experience and value for partners and customers.

“This year’s Acquia Engage Award nominees show what’s possible when open technology and boundless innovation come together. Our 2018 winners have developed powerful, personalized experiences that span the web, mobile devices, voice assistants and more,” said Joe Wykes, senior vice president, global channels at Acquia. “We’re proud to recognize the achievements of United Rentals, VML and all of our finalists and winners.”
