SmartEquip has promoted Fernando Pinera to president and chief operating officer. Pinera has been executive vice president and COO since 2010. The appointment reflects Pinera’s record of leadership and results throughout his career at SmartEquip. The company said his leading of the transformation of the company’s operating practices set the foundation for significant growth.

Before joining SmartEquip, Pinera worked for a leading construction equipment rental company in various senior executive capacities. He also spent several years as a senior executive in the construction, specialty contractor and landscape segments, and was also with an equipment dealership in South Florida.
