South Texas Caterpillar dealer Holt Cat is planning to build its largest dealership location in Georgetown, Texas, about 35 miles north of Austin. The $20 million facility will occupy 60,000 square feet and create about 130 new jobs. Georgetown City Council has approved an economic development agreement that will provide $1.5 million in sales tax rebates if the company meets hiring and capital investment benchmarks, according to media reports.

The city of Georgetown will build required infrastructure such as wastewater services and expansion of nearby roads to help develop the site and surrounding properties.

Holt Cat plans to hire specialized heavy equipment mechanics as well as administrative, sales and marketing positions with an average salary of $48,500. Holt Cat already has two locations in the Austin area.

The city of Georgetown expects a net economic benefit of more than $13 million over the next 10 years.

Holt Cat officials said the facility will be the company’s largest retail location in more than 30 years.

Holt Cat, which provides sales, service and rental of Caterpillar and allied equipment, is one of the country’s largest Caterpillar dealers. It has more than 20 locations and is No. 21 on the RER 100.
