Subaru’s Industrial Power Products division will close after fulfilling all order commitments for 2017, although product parts and support will remain available indefinitely. The change is part of an operational change by parent company Fuji Heavy Industries, which will change its name to Subaru Corp. and focus its engineering and financial resources on its fast-growing automobile division.

Both Subaru Industrial Power Products and Subaru Automobile have seen significant growth in recent years. With more demand for resources, the company will focus on the automobile division. To make the transition as smooth as possible for its customers, Subaru said it intends to continue to supply spare parts for a “reasonable period” to meet market requirements, and that customers will see no change in quality assurance of products.

Effective immediately, FHI is suspending all new development projects of the industrial business, including not only newly received inquiries but current ongoing projects as well. FHI will temporarily maintain the production, supply and servicing of existing models and intends to crease production of existing products by the end of September 2017, although the exact suspension date is not yet determined.
