Genie Marks 50 Years with a 60-Foot Electric Z-Boom Lift
While Genie is celebrating 50 years in existence, an outstanding track record, it was a 60 – the Z-60/37DC to be precise – that attracted attention at the Rental Show last week. Its first all-electric Genie Z-boomlift, the unit combines the benefits of quieter, environmentally friendly operation with the four-wheel-drive performance of a traditional diesel-powered aerial work platform. Offering the advantages of zero-emissions and a full workday on one charge, the machine is designed for indoor and outdoor applications such as industrial plants, malls, convention centers and construction sites. Because the machine can charge fast – a full charge from a 110-volt wall power supply in less than 14 hours – the unit can be used daily.
“The Genie Z-60/37DC model is our first all-electric 66-foot articulating boom,” said Adam Hailey, product manager, Terex AWP. “It shares a lot of similarities in terms of performance and components with our popular articulating Genie Z-62/40 boom model, and this is intentional. We thoughtfully designed this boom to take advantage of the strengths and history of our boomlift product line, to offer customers the right equation of maximized range of motion, real four-wheel drive abilities, quiet performance, energy efficiency, jobsite versatility and cost effectiveness. Weighing more than 5,000 pounds less than the Genie Z-62/40 lift, the new Genie Z-60/37DC boom enhances the efficiency of this zero emissions model’s electric system. This means that the Genie Z-60/37DC lift is able to do a full day’s work while accessing many indoor and outdoor work environments that other models cannot.”
The lift delivers 59 feet, 7 inches of platform height, 36 feet, 7 inches of horizontal outreach and 24 feet 3 inches of up-and-over clearance, thus offering the capabilities of an articulating boom. The jib provides a 70-degree up and 65-degree down range of motion, coupled with 160 degrees of platform rotation. The platform is available in 6-foot or 8-foot versions with a capacity of 500 pounds, with a side-entry swing gate and front sliding mid rail as standard.
The Genie Fast Mast system enables the boom to be moved from full height to below grade and back with just one boom function. With the secondary fully elevated, the primary can reach all the way to the ground and then back to full height. The machine is drivable at full height, with dual parallel linkage so operators can vertically track a building by simply raising or lowering the secondary boom.
The Z-60/37DC is equipped standard with all-terrain, non-marking tires for indoor and outdoor applications.
