K&L Rentals Inc., doing business as AAA Rentals, Redwood City, Calif., has been acquired by Ed and Gerald Dobbs, its longstanding management team, Rental Acquisitions LLC announced today. AAA Rental has been a fixture as a one-location construction equipment rental company in the San Francisco Bay Area for more than five decades.

K&L was founded in 1965 by the late John Kenneth Brown and his late wife Lois. The company has been managed by Ed Dobbs, general manager for the past 30-plus years. Dobbs and his son Gerald purchased the business after the death of Mr. and Mrs. Brown, close friends of the Dobbs family.

“After over 30 years working for the ‘Boss’, Mr. Brown, who he was always known as, we are delighted to carry on the business and the spirit of renting equipment here at AAA and are thrilled to buy the business and continue to serve our loyal customers,” said Dobbs.

The business is now named Full House Equipment Rentals and is doing business as AAA Rentals.

“We would particularly like to thank Fred Hageman of Rental Acquisitions for assisting us in the process, valuing the company but most importantly structuring the sale with our best interests in mind,” said Dobbs. “Without Fred this deal probably doesn’t happen.”

Hageman, principal of Rental Acquisitions LLC, assisted Dobbs and his family in the transaction.
