Mammoth Machinery & Supply, a heavy equipment rental company helmed by an ownership team including former NBA basketball player Shawn Bradley, has opened for business in North Salt Lake, Utah. With $5 million of new rental equipment, including skid-steer loaders, excavators, graders and dozers, Mammoth plans to rent equipment to customers in Utah and throughout the western United States. The company hopes to expand within Utah and other states in 2016.
Bradley, a 7-foot, 6-inch former NBA player with the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks, has been successful in several business ventures after his basketball career. Bradley grew up using equipment and continues to do so on his ranch near Vernal, Utah.
“I grew up working on a ranch in Castledale, Utah, and operating equipment every day,” Bradley says. “Being in the equipment business is right in my wheelhouse.”
Co-founder Ken Allen spent 25 years as a business owner and manager for various organizations, including startups. He is a civil engineer and MBA and operates an excavator at his ranch as well.
“There is a significant market need for heavy equipment rentals,” says Allen. “Try to rent a large excavator or dozer and you will see how difficult it is to find good equipment. Our focus on providing new equipment and excellent customer service and support will differentiate us within the equipment rental marketplace.”
The third member of the ownership group, Adam Goodsell, spent 10 years in equipment sales and rentals in the Salt Lake City area.
“Adam was extremely successful at Wheeler Machinery as one of their top producing sales representatives,” says Bradley. “He is totally focused on customer success and is a great addition to our ownership team.”
