Aggreko, global leader in rental power and temperature control solutions, is providing power generation and climate control for the U.S. Open Championship, June 13-16. This is the 13th time Aggreko has been selected as temporary utility provider for the tournament, hosted this year by the Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa.
Aggreko designed a power and cooling solution with equipment customized for golf tournaments and large-scale spectator events, including quiet, uninterruptible TwinPack generators and custom-built tent air conditioners.
The project is unique in being spread out over two golf courses, private residences and the athletic compound at Haverford College. Aggreko’s design and logistics teams took account of the various sizes of temporary and permanent facilities to be installed throughout the grounds, including the Trophy Club and merchandise tent at 24,000 square feet each.
Aggreko will be providing:
- 50 miles of cable to distribute power and cooling to more than 300 venues;
- Enough power generation for 14,000 average-size homes;
- 3,500 tons of water-chilling and air-conditioning equipment;
- A crew of 15 Aggreko technicians for installation and operation.
Aggreko North America has a long history of providing power to high-profile events, including presidential inaugurations, several national sporting events and the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.
Based in Scotland with U.S. headquarters in Houston, Aggreko is No. 5 on the RER 100.
