Ziegler Caterpillar Expands in Iowa

March 1, 2013

Ziegler Caterpillar has nearly completed its Sioux City, Iowa, expansion, and is expecting to open its newest full-service facility in Sheldon, Iowa, in April or May, the company said. The Sioux City facility recently added 19,000 square feet of shop space and a 5,000-square-foot warehouse, bringing the total square footage of the building to 54,000. The location employs more than 40 people and Ziegler plans to hire 10 to 20 more in Sioux City during the next few years, according to Ziegler chairman and CEO William Hoeft.

“We’re expanding our presence in Sioux City because our business in the area continues to grow,” said Hoeft. “The expansion will help us provide a higher level of service to both our construction and agricultural customers.”

The Sheldon building is about 26,400 square feet on 21 acres, with about half the space in the shop area, a 9,000-square-foot warehouse and about 4,400 square feet of office and lobby area, according to the siouxcityjournal.com. Ziegler expects about 18 to 25 employees to work in the Sheldon location. Some are already in the area in sales and technical support situations.

Ziegler Cat, based in Minneapolis, Minn., has more than 20 locations in Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas and Wisconsin.
