Altec Industries, a manufacturer of utility company bucket trucks based in Birmingham, Ala., last week acquired Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Lift-All, an aerial work platform manufacturer. The acquisition of Lift-All gives Altec a machine for servicing high-altitude electric transmission lines.

Altec said it plans to continue utilizing Lift-All’s Fort Wayne manufacturing plant.

“The acquisition provides Altec with a unique opportunity to broaden our product line and offer additional choice and value to our customers, said Altec president and CEO Lee Styslinger III. Styslinger added that Lift-All will take on the Altec name but continue to operate in Indiana under current management.

Styslinger said that although Altec is feeling the effects from the current recession, the company has weathered similar storms in the past, including the Great Depression. Altec was founded 1929 and is celebrating its 80-year anniversary this year.
