SMS Rents strengthened its presence in the Quebec City region of Canada by opening a new branch in the south shore community of St. Romuald. Nicolas Gagnon, Quebec region manager and Remi Martineau, director of operations for the Quebec City area, opened the doors to the new facility last month.
St. Romuald is a historic area of Quebec that still retains its own identity locally, although the town amalgamated with the City of Levis in 2002. The new rental center will work closely with SMS Rents’ Ste. Foy facility. The area’s shipbuilding and oil refining heritage continue, the community continues to grow.
“The new store is visible and very accessible from the bridge or anywhere in Levis,” said Martineau. “We are tied in very closely [with Ste. Foy] and that allows us to deliver equipment very quickly throughout the Quebec and Levis region. A contractor can call either store for equipment and we will ship from the closest yard. For contractors needing to pick up supplies, a new store will add a level of convenience. We are ‘job ready’ on both sides of the river.”
Marcel Langlois, president of SMS Rents, said the Quebec City area has been underserved until now.
St. Romuald is the fifth expansion for SMS Rents in the past 12 months. The company has opened new stores in the greater Toronto area and in Ottawa, while its Sudbury, Ontario, branch relocated to a larger facility.
SMS Rents is one of Canada’s largest construction equipment rental companies. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, SMS Rents is No. 86 on the RER 100.
